FUNDRAISING MERCHANDISE & CUSTOM REWARDS

TANGIBLE REWARDS THAT GET REAL RESULTS

Donor fatigue is real - and the organisations that overcome it are the ones that give donors something worth giving for. At Novelli, we design and produce bespoke fundraising merchandise that does more than raise money in the moment; it builds lasting connections between your cause and the people who support it.

We've worked with charities, corporates, and community organisations across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland - from Cure Kids and the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ to Ace Hardware and Children's Miracle Network in the US, and Ronald McDonald House Charities in Australia.

Whether you need a limited-edition collectable to drive a national retail campaign, co-branded apparel for a workplace fundraiser, or a creative product that earns its place on social media, we'll develop something your supporters will genuinely want to own. And because we handle everything from concept through to logistics and delivery, you can focus on the cause rather than the supply chain. Get in touch to start the conversation.

REWARDS INCREASE MOTIVATION
REWARDS INCREASE MOTIVATION

Turns out generosity loves company. Behavioural economics shows that when people receive something tangible in return, they give more - and come back to give again. A well-chosen reward isn't a cost, it's a multiplier.

ENGAGEMENT AND STORYTELLING

The best fundraising campaigns don't just ask - they take donors on a journey. Pair compelling visuals with a reward worth talking about, and you've got something people actually connect with, not just scroll past.

TEXT TO DONATE IS LOW FRICTION, BUT ALSO LOW YIELD
TEXT TO DONATE IS LOW FRICTION, BUT ALSO LOW YIELD

Tapping a button to donate is easy. That's also the problem. Easy doesn't inspire generosity - it just lowers the barrier. Without something meaningful in return, you're leaving money and loyalty on the table.

DONOR RETENTION
DONOR RETENTION

Getting someone to donate once is hard enough. Getting them to come back year after year? That takes more than a thank-you email. A quality piece of branded merchandise does the relationship-building work long after the campaign ends.

TOUCH
DRIVES SOCIAL MEDIA EXPOSURE
DRIVES SOCIAL MEDIA EXPOSURE

When supporters love what they've received, they share it. A branded hoodie at a sporting event, a limited-edition tote at the supermarket - your donors become advocates, and that kind of word-of-mouth can't be bought.

CREATES A SENSE OF COMMUNITY
CREATES A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

There's something powerful about spotting a stranger wearing the same gear as you and knowing you're both part of something bigger. Branded merchandise turns individual donors into a visible, connected movement.

TOUCH
BOOSTS YOUR CAUSE'S VISIBILITY
BOOSTS YOUR CAUSE'S VISIBILITY

Every time a donor wears, carries, or uses your branded merchandise, your cause gets in front of new people. It's marketing that keeps going - at the school gate, on the commute, at the gym - without spending another cent.

A single donation buys one moment. A great piece of branded merchandise keeps working for months or years after the campaign closes - building awareness, reinforcing your cause, and reminding donors why they gave in the first place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT FUNDRAISING MERCHANDISE

Everything you need to know about creating fundraising merchandise that actually moves people to give - and if your question isn't here, get in touch, and we'll talk it through.
What is fundraising merchandise?  Fundraising merchandise is a branded product - apparel, accessories, collectables, or everyday items - designed to be sold or given as part of a charity or cause-related campaign. Unlike a simple donation ask, merchandise gives supporters something tangible in return, which increases both the likelihood of giving and the amount given. Novelli designs and produces fundraising merchandise for charities, corporates, and community organisations across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
How does fundraising merchandise differ from a gift with purchase? A gift with purchase is tied to a retail transaction - buy a product, receive a free item. Fundraising merchandise is tied to a charitable mechanic - purchase or donate to support a cause, receive something meaningful in return. The underlying product design and production process is similar, but the campaign objective, the emotional driver, and often the distribution channel are quite different. Novelli has extensive experience with both, and can advise on which approach - or combination of approaches - best suits your campaign.
What types of products work well for fundraising campaigns? The most effective fundraising products are ones that supporters genuinely want, not just something emblazoned with a logo. We've produced red noses and counter display units for Cure Kids NZ's annual Red Nose Day, co-branded hoodies for Bunnings Trade and Movember, reusable carry bags for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ's Pink Ribbon campaign, and custom NovaBrix building block sets for Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Ports of Auckland. The right product depends entirely on your audience, your cause, and your campaign mechanic - which is why we always start with a conversation rather than a catalogue.
Can Novelli manage fundraising campaigns that run across multiple countries? Yes. We have delivered fundraising merchandise programmes across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and as far afield as France, Germany and Sweden - as we did for the Rapid Relief Team's NovaBrix Red Tent Event set. We manage the full supply chain, including production, quality control, freight, customs clearance, and logistics to multiple destinations simultaneously, so your campaign runs smoothly regardless of how many territories are involved.
Can the merchandise be sold through retail stores as part of the campaign? Absolutely. Some of our most successful fundraising campaigns have run through major retail networks - the Ace Hardware reusable carry bag supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals runs through more than 5,000 stores across the United States, and the Foodstuffs 'Know Your Normal' carry bag was sold through New World supermarkets nationwide as part of the Pink Ribbon appeal. We have extensive experience developing ranged SKUs for retail environments and can apply that same expertise to cause-related retail programmes.
How does Novelli approach a fundraising merchandise brief? We start by understanding your cause, your audience, your campaign window, and your budget. From there, we develop creative product concepts - always with an eye on what will genuinely resonate with your donors rather than what's easiest to produce. Once a direction is agreed we manage design, sampling, production, quality assurance, and delivery end-to-end. You stay informed throughout without having to manage the complexity yourself. See our case studies for examples of how this process has worked in practice.
What is the minimum order quantity for fundraising merchandise? Minimum order quantities vary depending on the product type and level of customisation involved. We work with organisations ranging from community groups running a single regional campaign to global brands managing multi-territory programmes simultaneously. The best starting point is a conversation - get in touch, and we'll give you a clear picture of what's achievable within your budget and timeline.
How long does it take to develop and produce fundraising merchandise? Lead times depend on product complexity, the level of bespoke design required, and where the product is being manufactured. A sourced and branded product will typically have a shorter lead time than a fully custom design. As a general guide, most programmes run between 12 and 20 weeks from confirmed brief to delivered stock - though we always recommend getting in touch as early as possible to give your campaign the best possible chance of hitting its deadline. Our logistics team manages freight and delivery, so the timeline we give you accounts for the full journey, not just production.
Can fundraising merchandise be produced sustainably? Yes. Sustainability is increasingly important to donors and organisations alike, and we can advise on materials, packaging, and supply chain choices that reduce environmental impact without compromising on quality or appeal. Our n-viroloop programme is also designed to support the responsible end-of-life management of branded merchandise - worth considering for organisations with strong environmental commitments.
Does Novelli only work with charities, or do corporates run fundraising campaigns too? Both. Some of our most successful fundraising campaigns have been run by corporates supporting a charity partner - Bunnings Trade raising funds for MATES in Construction and Movember, Ace Hardware supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, ASB Bank backing St John Ambulance, and Foodstuffs supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. If your organisation is looking to align with a cause through a product-led campaign, we can help develop the merchandise and the mechanic. We also create corporate gear, giveaways and gifts, and sponsorship merchandise for brands looking to extend their community presence beyond a single campaign.
